This is one of the best features of CDPAP! Unlike regular personal care aides, CDPAP caregivers can perform “skilled” care that would otherwise be performed by a nurse.
These tasks include:
– suctioning tracheostomies
– insulin injections
– administration of oxygen or medications where the consumer cannot self-administer

Caregivers work with our team and are paid by our team. We will work with you and your caregiver to manage hours.
Additionally, we assist with schedules and details of your care. Salaries and rates may change depending on the case, but the current starting rate is $17.55.

Yes. CDPAP is included in the “benefit package” for both Mainstream Medicaid Managed Care and Managed Long Term Care.

No. There is no special license or certification to become a caregiver. You WILL, however, need to have a recent full exam by a doctor with TB test and proof of Measles/Rubella immunity.

The individuals receiving care have the choice to select any aide they prefer. The caregiver is most typically a direct relative like son, daughter, son-in-law, daughter-in-law, grandchild, etc.
Aides are also family friends or neighbors. Parents can also get paid to care for their children if they are older than 21.


Cannot:
Spouses cannot serve as an aide. A “designated representative” of the CDPAP consumer may not serve as a caregiver.
Children under 21 cannot choose their parents as paid caregivers.

Yes, immigrants can become caregivers as long as they have the required, updated forms that prove they have proper work authorization for the United States.

In order to be eligible for CDPAP, you must meet the following criteria:
– require assistance with activities of daily living or skilled care
– have a stable medical condition
– be self-directing or have a designated representative that is willing and able to direct care as per the program’s requirements
